The Maison Autrique (Horta 1893) is an important milestone of Art Nouveau.
François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters are creators who, together or separately, have chosen to express themselves in various ways, especially through comics. The series ”Les cités Obscures”, started in 1983, constitutes a very original work, a universe whose part of the inspiration is located at the illustrators and the architects of the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century.
Naturally, when Schuiten and Peeters discovered in the mid-90s that the Maison Autrique designed by Victor Horta was for sale, a great adventure began. From the exemplary restoration was born an Imaginary House. Open to the public, it allows everyone to better understand the historical and aesthetic interest of the old Brussels houses. During your visit, you will discover exhibition spaces, a small thematic bookshop and an original scenography signed by Benoît Peeters and François Schuiten.
